ABOUT THE PERFORMER – Konstantyn Napolov performs Woodpecker by Louis Andriessen. The performance took place at the Muziekgebouw Frits Philips, Eindhoven, on Monday 10th of November 2014 at 16:20 during the 2nd round of TROMP percussion competition.


ABOUT THE COMPOSER – Louis Andriessen, born in 1939 in Utrecht, studied with his father Henrik and with Kees van Baaren at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. He also studied with Luciano Berio in Milan and Berlin, 1962–64. He supplemented his composing work by teaching positions since 1974. De Volharding and Hoketus ensembles are named after his pieces. Additional collaborations with Asko and Schönberg Ensemble, Nederlands Kamerkoor, San Francisco Symphony, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Kronos and Arditti Quartets, London Sinfonietta, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Icebreaker, Bang on a Can All-Stars and California E.A.R. Unit.
