Microscope

The director’s concept draws inspiration from the characteristic arch shapes found in ancient architecture. From an almost sacred stillness, the work unfolds into rhythmic gestures, gradually building into a gently pulsating wall of sound and image — before returning to its origin: the altar of prayer.

Like under a microscope, music and imagery zoom in and out, merging into a single experience. This approach is rooted in the emotional atmosphere created by Harold Luya’s evocative choreography, which serves as the soul of the piece.

The music, composed by leading film composer Daniel Wohl — specially commissioned for and performed by the Trio — underscores the depth of human struggle, transformation, and impermanence. The work portrays the tragic fate of a man who, after trying everything in life, ends his battle through unrequited love — leaving behind a world of sin by taking the poison of his beloved.

To survive both love and life is to step into the realm of the infinite.

Droplets II | Live from the Royal Concertgebouw

The music film by Konstantyn Napolov, featuring the complete and award-winning masterpiece Droplets II by composer Christiaan Richter, was recorded in a completely empty Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam during the first lockdown in the Netherlands, in May 2020.

Only eight seats remained in the audience of this majestic, historically rich concert hall — a space where no live events took place for over a year.

The film is based on the ritual script Guard the Mother Earth, written by Konstantyn Napolov, who was inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic and the urgent realization of our fragile relationship with the planet.
